Does exercise help you lose weight?

Most people today would say that it's obvious that exercising more helps us lose weight. After all, exercising makes you burn calories, and if you burn more calories than you eat, you must lose weight. Right?

Well ... Many of us have tried exercising and found that it makes very little difference to our weight loss attempts. But exercising more to lose weight has become such an accepted truth that we haven't thought to challenge it.

That may all be changing, though. Gary Taubes, the New York Times journalist who wrote 'What If It's All Been a Big Fat Lie?' blowing the lid on the myths about saturated fat, has now written another insightful article, this time on how exercising may actually cause you to store fat, much less burn it.
